We surprised the kids with a short getaway. They love it when we do this - we tell them, "We're going to see where the van takes us!" And we go! So as we traveled we had to stop at the "Geographical Center" of our Nation...which is only about six miles from our home. Can you believe it? Yet, another reason to come see us :)
Then the van took us to a hotel in Kansas City and LegoLand. We figured we had better get there before the oldest young men of the family frown upon such a destination.
We also had some dear friends from St. Louis, the Fords, come and spend a few days with us. They were so excited to show their girls the pace of our small town. The weather was gorgeous and we were able to walk everywhere, check out the Round Barn and even get in on our small town celebration.
And our Summer was spent with extra fishing and four wheeling, fun memory making for young and not so young boys of the family. Isabel and I love it too :)
